July Words of Wisdom: Start a New Morning Routine

8/19/2016

How we begin our day sets the tone for the rest of it. Too often we postpone what we desire for ourselves.
Get up a half hour earlier and do something special just for yourself, such as working out, journaling, reading or taking a quiet moment to set your intention for the day. If a half hour sounds like too much, try 15 minutes. When we make the things that are most essential to us a priority, we feel more joyful and fulfilled.
(From the Inner Guide 2016 Planner)

Questions to Ponder:
  • What could you do in an extra 15 minutes of the day?
  • How does getting time to yourself feel?
  • What might get in the way of this?
  • After trying this, how do you feel?

August Words of Wisdom: Revise Your To-Do List

8/19/2016

Are your daily to-do lists made up of only endless chores and tasks? It is vital to include things that inspire you and renew your energy, such as scheduling breaks to rest and reflect, play with your children, or go to a museum or concert.
Give yourself the opportunity to direct your time and energy toward what is most meaningful and essential to you and your well-being every day.
(From the Inner Guide 2016 Planner)

Questions to Ponder:
  • Have you set aside time to play today?
  • How do you feel when you take time for yourself?
  • What is getting in the way of doing what you love?
  • How can you incorporate more time for yourself in your day?

Finding it hard to be productive and take time for yourself? Try the Pomodoro technique, where 25 minutes of focused work is followed with a 5 minute break.

Self-knowledge is gained through careful observance of yourself in a non-judgmental way. By practicing being mindful of your thoughts, feelings, words and actions, you can learn to be more thoughtful in your responses.
Pursuing self-knowledge helps you discover your own personal truth while maintaining respect for those whose beliefs differ from your own. It is one of the keys to a peaceful and successful life.
(From the Inner Guide 2016 Planner)

Questions to Ponder
  • What have you said or done recently that you wish you could change?
  • Why do you want to change it?
  • How would you feel if you could change it?
  • What impact did it have on others? Was this good or bad?
